Health Coaching is the combination of health education and the promotion of health & fitness strategies within a coaching environment with the intention of enhancing the well being of the individual and facilitating the attainment of health related goals.



 

  • It encourages individuals to accept responsibility for their own health and promotes their involvement as  partners in their own care.
  • It is a collaborative partnership between coach and client.
  • It assumes that clients are creative resourceful and whole and the coach works with the client on a voyage of guided self discovery.
  • It explores lifestyle habits that inhibit the working of the immune system that leads to poor health.
  • Promotes quality of life, well being and fulfilment in life.
  • Aids the realisation that the individual determines how healthy they are and how healthy they can be.
  • Helps individuals assess where they currently are and what they would like to achieve.
  • Helps them attain their goals in easy steps and do the things they have always struggled to do in the past by holding them accountable.
Health is personal to each individual and therefore each person needs to be assessed and coached individually. A customised programme is created to help the client achieve their goals at a pace that is right for them.

Unlike personal training or counselling, the participant is the expert with health coaching. Whether the individual is working toward general wellness or a more specific health-related issue, our focus is on enhancing quality of life, not on "fixing" a particular physical or emotional issue - although issues may become goals. The health coach guides, motivates, provides customized resources, and help participants to set achievable goals. They do not diagnose, prescribe, or give advice. The coach uses their expertise to provide participants with tools, not opinions.
