What Does Health Coaching Do?       Benefits for Businesses

The Health & Safety at Work Act 1999 places a legal obligation on employers to assess health risks and implement relevant strategies. An area frequently overlooked is the promotion of strategies to help employees support their own health and well being both in the work place and at home.

Health Coaching encourages employees to learn self help tools to support their own health and well being which ultimately makes them less likely to take time off work through illness and makes them far more productive. Companies that provide health coaching to their employees are far more likely to retain their staff and save dramatically on recruitment and training costs. It is estimated that at any one time 80% of employees are actively or passively looking for a new job.

Health Coaching can support your staff and raise the productivity of your business by:-

  • Encouraging employees to develop resources and tools for making dramatic changes in lifestyle to increase health and well being.
  • Help employees accept complete responsibility for their own health.
  • Achieve health related goals.
  • Tackle work related stress & learn stress management techniques.
  • Make informed choices that increase health & improve quality of life.
  • Helps employees tap into the power of their own minds to become psychologically strong.
  • Encourage healthy eating (60% of people who believed that work was the most demanding area of their lives failed to eat properly).
  • Learn simple exercise routines, breathing techniques & relaxation techniques.
In the USA organisations that have invested in health coaching have seen a Return On Investment of between 2.5 and 7.5.
